Certain houseplants may need to be repotted, while other plants do not respond well when their roots are disturbed. To check the roots of your plants, simply up-end the pot and gently tap the bottom. The plant will slide out into your hand, and you can look at the roots. If many roots are visible, you need to give your plant a larger home. You do not have to transfer the plant to a new pot if you are not seeing any roots, or just a few.
If you reside in a busy neighborhood, you should always make sure your gardening tools are kept in a secure place. Do not leave valuable property lying around, as it is always possible for thieves to strike, even just for the sake of grabbing things that belong to someone else.
Mixing a variety of plants at different heights is how you can make a very interesting English garden. If you only use uniform plants, your bed will look boring and flat.
You should think about adding evergreen plants that yield berries into your yard space. The evergreens will add some color to your garden or yard, especially during the winter, when other plants have died or lost color. Some plants provide color during the winter like the Winterberry, and American Holly, the American Cranberrybush and the Common Snowberry.
Plant larger plants like trees or shrubbery in the fall to encourage strong root development. The ground will still be warm and allow the roots to develop without wasting any energy on leaves, since the air temperature will be too low.
There are natural materials, and you can also use other plants to help keep pests away from your garden. Planting marigolds or onions around the border of your garden will repel slugs. Wood ash can be used as mulch, and if put on the base of shrub and tree seedlings, will keep insects away. These methods remove the need for harsh chemical pesticides.
It’s pretty easy to see that these tips don’t require too much effort to follow. All that is necessary is to apply some of the ideas presented here and monitor their effectiveness. Analyze the response that your plants have to your gardening methods carefully. If your thumb turns out to be brown rather than green, take corrective action. While it may take time, with patience your beautiful garden will be admired by the whole neighborhood.
