There is a lot of information you must learn before taking your garden and turning it into a masterpiece. Gardening does require labor and effort, but at the same time, gardening can also be fun. The following hints and tips can reduce the effort and increase the fun!
You can get rid of salt deposits on clay pots with rubbing alcohol and vinegar. Salt deposits will appear on the outside of the pot over time. You should combine equal portions of water, white vinegar and rubbing alcohol onto the pot. Next, scrub the post with a cleaning brush, and the salt will wash away. Use some clear water to rinse the pot before planting anything else in it.
When you water your garden, do it with care. A soaker hose will save you time because you won’t have to individually water each plant, like you do with a regular nozzle, or a can that you need to constantly refill. To avoid damaging delicate plants, you should water them with low pressure. Letting the soaker hose do the work frees you up to turn your attention elsewhere.
Plant annuals and biennials to make your flower beds brighter. You can use biennial and annual flowers to brighten the bed, and let you change how it looks. Use them to fill gaps between shrubs and perennials in the sun. There are plenty of varieties including petunia, marigold, cosmos, sunflower, hollyhock, and rudbeckia.
There are several annuals that thrive during the cooler months. Prune these plants back to keep them looking their best if they begin looking overgrown. Once a few weeks have passed, these annual plants will bloom again, and provide a nice variation in color compared to their brown surroundings. For those colder month, you may want to try snapdragons, various petunia plants, or even the sturdy dianthus.
Pest control can become a major issue. One major benefit of growing your own produce is knowing that they haven’t been treated with pesticides and other harsh chemicals. Remain vigilant to control your garden pests. When you see bugs, remove them by hand before they have a chance of spreading.
Vegetables are softest during the warmest hours of each day, so picking them then, no matter how gently, runs the risk of damage. See to it that you cut their connection to the vine as opposed to twisting them, because twisting could hurt the plant.
With these tips, you’re better equipped to grow the most beautiful garden you can imagine. In learning how to create your dream garden, you’ll also be growing as a person. That’s because learning how to nurture your plants will not only help you reach the goal of having a great garden, but it will help you learn to nurture yourself.
