Use climbers to cover walls and fences. Many climbers can cover the wall or fence in as little as one growing season. Over one week, gradually build up the amount of hours you leave the plants outside. Finally, after about a week, you should be able to move them outside and leave them there for the summer.

Make garden tools do double duty as handy makeshift rulers. You can use shovels or rakes as measuring sticks. Lay the handles of said tools on the ground where it is flat and there is no interference, such as gravel, and stretch a measuring tape along one side. Next, use a Sharpie to accurately label the distance between each one. Now, the next time you’re down in the garden, you’ll have a handy ruler without needing to look anywhere else.

Before you start any gardening, make sure that you do not have any open wounds on your hands. If you do, you need to wear protection from dirt and chemicals so that they do not get into your cut. A cut can become infected if dirt is allowed to enter the cut while gardening. However, there are bandages available that will seal the cut completely. Using these should protect the cut from any infection while gardening.

Always check to make sure you are not watering your plants too much or too little. Over watering can cause the roots of your plants to rot and under watering does not give your plants the moisture they need to grow healthy and strong. Frequently check the moisture levels of the soil, and make adjustments accordingly.

You can be friendly to the environment by using rainwater to water your plants. Collect rain water in a container to avoid runoff and keep your water bill low. Think about doing this to be friendly to your wallet and the world.
