If you daydream about have a thriving garden filled with luscious green plants, colorful flowers and bustling wildlife, you need to consider what is required in order to turn your dream into reality. Maintaining a garden can be tiring, but it can also provide a lot of joy. Here are some tips for making it less work and more fun!

Pre-soak your seeds through the night in a dark area. Place some seeds into a small container, then fill it with water until it is almost to the top. This will keep seeds hydrated and help them to grow faster. The young plants will survive better, and get a boost toward maturity.

You can use boiling water to get rid of weeds naturally. The safest herbicide that you can probably find is a cup of boiling water. Pour boiling water on any weeds, but be careful not to spill it on plants you want to keep. This can cause enough damage to the roots of any plant to kill it.

Irises should be divided. Increase your iris stocks by dividing your overgrown clumps. When foliage is dead, lift bulbous irises. You will be able to split the bulb easily and replant it to get more flowers next year. Rhizomes, however, need to be divided by using a gardening knife. Cut several new pieces out of the outside and get rid of the old center. There needs to be a minimum of one healthy offshoot on each of the new sprout sections. Replant right away.

Wisely water your garden. You can save time by using soaker hoses to water more than one plant. Lower your water pressure on the soaker hose to avoid harming tender plants. You can take care of other tasks or just relax while your plants are automatically watered for an hour or so.

If you find yourself in love with mint leaves, but not with how they dominate a garden, read on. Keep your mint growth under control by planting them in pots and/or garden containers. Bury the container so that your plant does not stand out. The container will keep the roots from spreading too far.

Plants need ample amounts of CO2 to reach their maximum growth. When exposed to high levels of CO2, most types of plants will grow better. The best way to get higher CO2 for your plants is to grow them in a greenhouse. Make sure to keep CO2 levels high to provide the best growing environment for your plants.
