Take the proper approach to laying sod. Be sure to get your soil prepared before you start laying the new sod. Remove weeds and break your soil until all the clumps are gone. Using a light but firm touch, compact the soil until it is flat. Make sure the soil is thoroughly moist. Stagger your sod so that each joint offsets from joints in adjacent rows. Compact the sod down so you form a flat and even surface, then fill in any crevices within the sod by using some soil. Sod has to be watered daily for two weeks, and then it can be rooted.
Use climbing vines or plants to cover fences and walls. Plants that climb are extraordinarily versatile, and can help hide an unsightly wall or fence, usually within one season. You can direct them over certain branches or boards, or you can send them through plants you already have. Some must be tied to supports, but some climbers use twining stems or tendrils and attach themselves to those surfaces. Plants such as clematis, wisteria, climbing roses, or honeysuckle are always great choices.
If you want the best results, you need to choose the right soil. What plants you desire determines what type of soil you need in your garden, and whether or not it needs to be amended. It can happen where one artificial area is designated to have just one type of soil.
Pre-soak seeds overnight in a dark place. Drop some seeds into a small glass or other container, and fill it with water. This hydrates your seeds and jump-starts their growth. This will also give your seeds a much better chance to survive and mature.
When you are mowing your lawn do not cut it too closely to the dirt. If you let your grass keep some height after mowing, it will be able to absorb more sun and moisture resulting in a lusher, greener lawn. If you have short grass, you will have short roots and you will dry out your grass.
Your vegetable garden should get at least six hours of sun daily. Most members of the vegetable family need this minimum of light for proper growth. This arrangement will also benefit some types of flowers.
